Ryszard

2011 black Hanoverian gelding

Ricky

Ryszard is a big 2011 black Hanoverian gelding. He is sired by Rubignon (Rubinstein/Donnerhall/Pik Solo) and out of the outstanding mare, Weltlan (Weltmeyer - Domingo). Rubignon hardly needs an introduction and is known for his lovely temperament and incredible movement. His dam, Weltlan, is a Hanoverian mare by “stallion of the century”, Weltmeyer. He was the champion of his stallion licensing in 1988 and won his stallion performance test in 1987 with an impressive 143.96 overall score. He went on to be the Federal Champion 3 year old riding horse in Germany. After producing several outstanding foal crops, Weltmeyer was awarded Hanoverian Stallion of the Year in 1998. Weltmeyer’s production record is countless, with nearly 100 licensed stallions and 250+ State’s Premium mares. Weltmeyer is known for passing on excellent conformation and extravagant movement. Weltlan’s dam, Dom Perignon was the Champion Hanoverian mare at her inspection, receiving scores of 9 for head and type/femininity and 8’s for neck, saddle position, frame, conformation, and impulsion and elasticity. At inspection, she received an overall 7.6, the sixth-highest scoring mare on the tour that year. As a foal, Dom Perignon was the Grand Champion at the NCDCTA Fall Classic, where her full-sister, Dividende, was the Filly Champion the previous year. Weltlan’s dam sire, Domingo, was a highly successful Hanoverian dressage stallion. Weltlan has lived up to her prestigious breeding, winning the very competitive Hanoverian IBC class at Dressage at Lexington with an impressive 82.0%. She went on to be Champion of her Mare Inspection and has produced several outstanding foals for our program.

Ryszard is bold and inquisitive with an ‘in your pocket’ personality. He is very laid back, quiet, and happy to get a good scratch as a reward for anything. He is currently a big 16.2+ hh at 3 years old and will mature to 16.3-17.0 hh. Ryszard started showing on the line in DSHB, finishing his first show as Reserve Champion Foal at the NW FL Classic I show and qualifying for the USDF Southeast Breeders’ Championships at only one month of age. He finished the 2011 year as the 3rd highest scoring Hanoverian weanling colt in the US and ranked 7th across all breeds. In 2013, he showed in the American Hanoverian Society's 2 Year Old Futurity, scoring a respectable 71.8% and finishing high in a large group of entrants throughout the country. He was always easy to get on & off the trailer, took in the new surroundings of the show grounds well, and has been a pleasure to travel with.

He is started under saddle and going quietly walk, trot, and canter. He has bloomed under saddle expressing his big, ground-covering gaits with good suspension. Quiet and easy, but fairly forward and not lazy. Maintains his focus despite distractions and rowdy youngsters in nearby pasture. He has been easy to start and with his work ethic, he will be easy to bring along. He is quiet enough for an amateur with a trainer to finish. He has traveled out to his first dressage schooling show and was absolutely wonderful, like he'd been there a hundred times. This is a big, pretty, quiet gelding for the dressage or hunter ring.
