Fly Away On My Zephyr, aka “Zephyr” is a very special 2007 dark bay Friesian cross gelding. I really can’t say enough good things about him. He was born & raised on our farm and is by the accomplished FHANA dressage stallion, Mick, and out of the MMB German Oldenburg Verband mare, Boston Dancer. Zephyr got the best of both - tall, leggy, modern type with great bone. He is beautifully put together, very correct, and a lovely, huge mover - he’s hard to fault. While he was not inspected himself, he received many compliments at the German Oldenburg inspection at only 10 days old. He is double registered and also eligible AWS. He is a solid 16.3 hh and rides like an even taller horse.
Zephyr was imprinted at birth and has been consistently handled (and loved) ever since. He is an easy keeper, does well in the stall or out 24/7 and gets along great with other horses. He is great for the vet & farrier and has been on a regular vaccination, deworming, and farrier schedule his entire life. He bathes clips, ties, and cross ties like a seasoned pro. He loads & hauls quietly and has been hauled all over the place. He is a quick learner when asked to do new things and very brave. He is Mr. Personality and loves everyone he meets.
He was started slowly and correctly, and he loves to work. Great work ethic and easy enough for just about anyone to ride. Kick along quiet and very forgiving. Currently being used in our lesson program for riders of all levels, dressage and over fences. He has been out to several dressage and hunter shows, always well behaved and easy to ride. He has schooled some small (2'6 and under) cross country fences and done the hunter paces. At home he regularly jumps 2'9-3' courses with students. He is a very versatile, tall, handsome gelding for an amateur to take in any direction.
